At Oakstreet Man, you can purchase a wide variety of top-quality glassware, decanters and tools to help you savor fine wines. The Riedel Bar Port Vinum Glass, the Vinturi White Wine Aerator, and the Black Tie Face to Face Decanter make excellent gifts for any man, or any wine lover. • Meet Bennett Liberty

Posted on August 20, 2010 by Bill

I’m proud to introduce Bennett Liberty. When it comes to leather, there are few experts in the world with the experience, talent, and passion for the craft as Bennett. Bennett loves leather — the way it moves, the way it responds, and all the various ways it can be shaped, molded and crafted. We are fortunate to count him as one of our experts at OakStreet Man. Bennett helps us find and develop products for our Accessories shop. He custom-designed our ultimate Dopp Kit, a handsome leather satchel for toiletries that is a travel must-have for any man of taste. Continue Reading

  • Blend it!

Posted on July 30, 2010 by Bill

I’m a big fan of Stephen Poplawski. In 1922, he put a spinning blade at the bottom of a tall container, producing the first blender. He invented it specifically to make drinks at soda fountains, which were at that time as ubiquitous as Starbucks. While blenders make a mean milkshake, they can be used for lots more. They can puree, chop, mince and grind not just liquids, but foods as well. Continue Reading

  • A Work of Art

Posted on July 16, 2010 by Bill

Some products are works of art. That’s the case with the Sommeliers Burgundy Grand Cru Pinot Noir glass from the Austrian glass maker Riedel. Decanter magazine named this goblet “The finest Burgundy glass of all time, suitable for both young and old Burgundies.” But is it art? Absolutely! It’s on permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art. Continue Reading

  • Saving Time and Face

Posted on June 22, 2010 by Bill

Tony Sosnik is my kind of guy. Frustrated by his inability to find top quality grooming products that suited his needs, he started his own men’s grooming supplies company. Once a wheeler-dealer in real estate, Sosnik became the wildly successful proprietor of Anthony Logistics for Men. Continue Reading

  • Very Terry

Posted on June 16, 2010 by Bill

Ahhh, there’s nothing like finishing a shower with a premium towel and a luxurious robe, especially when they’re both the fluffiest, most absorbent terry cloth anywhere. At OakStreet Man, we asked ourselves, Where can we find the perfect towels and robes? Our research took us far and wide, but finally we found what we were looking for… at a generations-old family-owned importing and manufacturing company in Massachusetts. Continue Reading

  • The Best Basics

Posted on May 21, 2010 by Bill

I love slicing, dicing, chopping, flipping, grating, and generally letting loose like a pro in the kitchen, whenever I can. That, however, does not mean I disregard the basics. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, a good burger, even a grilled cheese sandwich (which is thoroughly transformed by adding fresh avocado after grilling, but I digress…) are the first things I learned to cook. They’re still the comfort foods I whip up when friends and family gather in the kitchen. Continue Reading

  • The Ultimate Dopp Kit – Don’t Leave Home Without It

Posted on May 4, 2010 by Bill

The one thing I cannot do without when I travel is my Dopp kit. Some call it a shave kit or toiletries bag, but it’s a necessity no matter the name. It provides safe-keeping for shampoo, soap, pills, grooming supplies and everything else a man needs to look and feel his best away from home. Continue Reading

  • The Art of Grooming

Posted on March 25, 2010 by Bill

Grooming is all about one’s personal appearance… cleanliness, personal hygiene and attention to detail in caring for skin, hair, teeth, nails and so on. Good grooming makes us attractive, confident and, in a social or business context, more persuasive, convincing and successful. Continue Reading

  • Everybody Breathe

Posted on March 4, 2010 by Bill

In this hectic day and age, it’s important to remember to breathe. It’s also important to put your feet up and unwind with, say, a glass of fine wine. Put the two together and you have a decanter – a vessel that, among its other functions, allows wine to breathe after it is opened. Opening a bottle of wine is a time of anticipation and relaxation. It’s the signal that I’m slipping into a lower gear, and it’s a moment often shared with family or friends. Continue Reading
